Bettina Buchler has been the Managing Director of the “Film- und Kinobüro Hessen” since 2026. Prior to that, she served for 18 years as the Director of the “Deutsche Film- und Medienbewertung”, which recognized outstanding German and international media with its “Recommended” and “Highly Recommended” seals of quality. She studied Comparative Literature, Philosophy, and American Studies in Mainz and in Tucson, Arizona (USA). It was during her studies that she discovered her passion for film. For five years, she served as an examiner for the Voluntary Self-Regulation of the Movie Industry (FSK) and was the Managing Director of the SPIO from 1988–1996. With TATORT EiFEL in Daun and the “FernsehKrimi Preis” in Wiesbaden, she played a key role as Festival Director in establishing a creative industry hub and a crime fiction festival that remains highly popular with audiences today.
