Daud Nugraha is an Indonesian Director, Storyteller, and Founder of Aniwayang Studio. Born in Yogyakarta and raised in Bandung, he studied Visual Communication Design at the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB). His work focuses on blending traditional Indonesian culture with contemporary storytelling. He is the Creator and Director of Desa Timun (Cucumberville), an animated series for children that combines traditional shadow puppetry with modern animation techniques. Through Aniwayang, Daud develops a unique visual language using paper-cut and leather puppets performed physically behind the screen and enhanced digitally. His works have been screened at international festivals in over a dozen countries and have received various recognitions, including a nomination for Best Short Animated Film at the Indonesian Film Festival. Through his work, Daud aims to reintroduce Indonesian cultural heritage to global audiences in a playful, contemporary, and accessible way.
