Jakob Zapf, Co-CEO at Neopol Film, is a Writer, Director and Producer in Frankfurt am Main. As a Producer, he works on projects from children’s films (MAX AND THE SENIOR SQUAD) and genre cinema (FROSTBITE) to fictional and documentary TV series (NEON DUST). As a Writer and Director, he is especially interested in outsiders. In these characters he looks for stories beyond the familiar, which can broaden the view. His fictional approach is characterized by a documentary eye, by research as a base for fiction, by attention to detail and by the casual tension and sudden suspense arising from situations. His first feature A HANDFUL OF WATER starring J. Prochnow and P. Ferydoni was screened, nominated and awarded at festivals worldwide, including German venues in Hof, Ludwigshafen and Emden, and internationally in L.A., N.Y., Madrid, Buenos Aires and many more. It was released to German cinemas in 2021 and in the USA at the end of 2022. He is currently working on his second feature film project.
